Fallen Retribution
Imperial Guards on medusa V seek vengeance after a unjust betrayal
Background
The Fall of the 677th Imperial Guard
The 677th Imperial Guard Regiment had been holding the line against the advancing forces of Chaos for months. The Warp storm was closing in, and every day brought new horrors from the heretical forces arrayed against them. Supplies were dwindling, and reinforcements were nowhere to be found. The once-glorious regiment was fighting with its back against the wall, and hope was growing thin.
During one of their final operations, the 677th stumbled upon an abandoned Chaos Warhound Titan, a colossal war machine of terrifying power. Initially, they hesitated. This was a machine of the Ruinous Powers, an abomination of the Imperium. But the situation was desperate. The regiment was facing annihilation, and the loyalist forces had all but abandoned them to their fate. With no other options left, the regiment’s commanders made a grim decision—they would activate the Titan and use its power to turn the tide.
As the Titan's weapons came online, its devastating power was unleashed upon the enemies of the 677th. Entire legions of Chaos forces were obliterated in moments, and the regiment felt a glimmer of hope for the first time in weeks. However, victory came at a cost. The use of a Chaos-tainted weapon did not go unnoticed.
Other Imperial Guard forces in the region, horrified by the sight of the corrupted Warhound Titan being wielded by their once-loyal comrades, immediately branded the 677th as traitors. Orders came down from high command to eliminate the regiment by any means necessary. Loyalist forces turned on the 677th, attacking them with the same ferocity they reserved for Chaos itself.
Betrayed by the Imperium they had sworn to protect, the 677th was left with no choice but to fight back. Branded as heretics, the survivors of the regiment now had only one goal: survival. Their use of the Chaos Titan had damned them in the eyes of the Imperium, and there would be no forgiveness. Now, with nothing left but bitterness and vengeance in their hearts, they would turn their weapons against the very forces they once fought alongside.
Mission
The 677th Imperial Guard, once proud defenders of the Imperium, have been falsely labelled as traitors by the High Command. Abandoned by the God Emperor and left to die, the survivors of the regiment now turn their wrath on Port Helstrom. Fueled by bitterness and betrayal, they will strike at the heart of the port, targeting its defences and command structure.
Your orders are to lead an assault, breach the port's defences, and bring down those who abandoned you. This is no longer a fight for the Imperium—it is a fight for survival and retribution.
The Chaos forces will be assaulting the southern gate, we plan to use their assault and launch our own and either gain favor with the chaos forces or establish a base of our own.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTION:
Be prepared for urban warfare and medium-range combat.
The 667th are no longer loyalists, but not fully aligned with Chaos yet. They are in a grey zone, fighting for survival and revenge. Their brutal actions in the mission can push them closer to fully falling to Chaos, or they may still hold onto some semblance of their original identity as former Imperial Guardsmen.
The Chaos forces will be neutral unless angered.
